Neutral Policy for Map Names and Boundaries

Basis of the display

Pitatto Map uses fixed public data and one shared in-app classification policy. Within the same version, country and region shapes, correct placements, and names do not change by distribution territory.

Current boundary display

Boundary lines use the Natural Earth display source currently bundled with the app. We do not claim that disputed boundary lines have been removed from the current display.

Using a representation found in public source data does not endorse the legal status of a boundary or any party’s position.

EEZ-derived auxiliary shapes

For some small-island countries, Pitatto Map uses shapes derived from VLIZ World EEZ v12 as a puzzle aid that makes them easier to find and handle. Terrain visible inside these shapes comes from Natural Earth.

These auxiliary shapes do not represent land territory, national borders, sovereignty, maritime entitlements, or territorial claims.

Overlapping claims and joint regimes

Source features identified as overlapping claims or joint regimes are not adopted into a country’s EEZ-derived auxiliary shape. This avoids treating a disputed overlap or jointly managed area as one country’s correct puzzle area.
